Cameroon Faces Crisis Ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and Makes a Surprising Move
AFCON 2025 is just days away, and the Indomitable Lions are already making headlines before the ball even rolls in Morocco.
Morocco is gearing up for the excitement of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but Cameroon has already created shockwaves after making a surprising decision.
What Happened With Cameroon Before AFCON 2025?
The Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) decided to fire head coach Marc Brys, who had been in charge since April 2024.
The 63-year-old Belgian had been in an open dispute with Samuel Eto’o, president of Fecafoot, who was recently re-elected.

Why Is Marc Brys No Longer Cameroon’s Coach?
Beyond his conflict with Eto’o, Cameroon is going through one of the worst moments in its history after failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
Despite being the African team with the most World Cup appearances — eight in total — the Indomitable Lions first lost the direct qualification spot to Cabo Verde and then missed their playoff chance after falling to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
